Veterinary Services, Ltd. is an independent, full-service small animal hospital located in Breese, Illinois. Our mission is to provide high-quality, compassionate care to strengthen the bonds between our clients and their pets.
We have been serving the community and their pets for over 60 years. We pride ourselves in building relationships with our clients and supporting each other as a team.
Breese, Illinois is a small town with easy access to metro St Louis amenities, as well as outdoor activities. Nearby Carlyle Lake offers boating, fishing, and hunting opportunities. Beautiful scenery and hiking is available within a 2 hour drive in southern Illinois.
In 2024, our 6000 square foot facility was completely renovated. We have 6 exam rooms, a centralized treatment area, and dedicated surgery, imaging, and dentistry suites.
Company History
Veterinary Services, Ltd was started as Clinton Veterinary Service in 1960 by Drs Byford Wood and Raymond Husmann. Dr William Greenwald joined the practice in 1971 and the name was changed to Veterinary Services, Ltd. It was primarily a large animal/dairy practice, which also served small animal clients. Dr Husmann retired in 1996 and Dr Wood retired in 1998. In 1999 the hospital changed to an exclusively small animal practice. Dr Emily Wood joined the practice in 2012 and purchased the practice in 2015. Dr Greenwald fully retired in 2020. In its history, Veterinary Services has employed over 200 people and continues to serve the pets and people of Clinton County and the surrounding area.
